A Run Around Mount St. Helens: Friendship, Gratitude, and Adventure

This last Saturday I ran around Mount St. Helens in the great company of my practice partner and friend Rachel Beda. I had never visited the ‘blast zone’ before. It felt a bit lunar to be there and brought back the 9 year-old’s excitement I experienced when St. Helens erupted in 1980 and the midday sky went dark in my hometown of Moscow, Idaho.

A recurring gratitude I felt along that lengthy and mixed terrain was for Rachel’s qualities as a practice partner and co-owner of Wise Patient. Her doctoring full of grit and intelligence. She never gives up on her patients. She cares tremendously about social justice.  She takes a personal interest in every member of our Wise Patient team.  I could go on, but someone told me to keep the first blog post short and sweet! – Sam
