Sam Warren, MD MSc is board-certified and fellowship-trained in internal medicine, with additional training in epidemiology and public health genetics.

Dr. Warren received his medical degree from Stanford University in 1999 and completed his residency at the University of Washington Medical Center. He has worked as an internal medicine physician within six of Seattle’s hospitals. He served as Associate Director of Emergency Services at Harborview Medical Center from 2005 through 2009, during which time he was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington Medical School. At Harborview, his responsibilities included patient care, teaching medical students and residents, and coordinating complex medical strategies for exceptionally ill and injured patients from all over this region. In 2009, longing to be as involved in preventing illness as he was in treating it, Dr.Warren accepted a two-year National Research Service Award Primary Care Fellowship in General Internal Medicine. “The Fellowship was a unique opportunity to study with an incredible group of University of Washington faculty dedicated to improving the delivery of primary care medicine in the nation.” During his fellowship, he also earned a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology with a Certificate in Public Health Genetics. His primary research projects have focused on optimizing a community’s response to sudden cardiac arrest. Dr. Warren also holds an appointment as a hospitalist physician and internal medicine consultant at Northwest Hospital, and is Medical Director of Vashon Island Fire & Rescue Medic One.

Dr. Warren designed Wise Patient to improve doctor-patient communication.  ”We are small neighborhood clinic on Capitol Hill that leverages communication technologies to be as connected, coordinated, and accountable as any large institution, but more personal.”

In his spare time, Dr. Warren enjoys gardening, cooking, lake swimming, and exploring the mountains with his wife Neala and running with his dog Lulu. His approach to a healthy lifestyle includes run commuting, being nutritionally aware, celebrating his friends, and learning new things.
