Conditions we treat
Preventative Care
Cardiovascular Health
Heart disease and stroke remain leading causes of death in the U.S. We are confident in counseling on evidence-based measures to screen and prevent cardiovascular disease as it relates to exercise, nutrition, pharmacology, lab testing, and imaging when indicated. In those who have a history of cardiovascular disease, we can help manage, or co-manage treatment following a related event to ensure that risk of recurrence is reduced. Management of hypertension and high cholesterol are common co-occurring disorders of which we can treat.
Reproductive Health
Wise Patient Internal Medicine provides a wide range of reproductive related treatments to include but not limited to contraception counseling, routine PAP smears, breast exams, and diagnostic gynecological exams for symptoms you may be experiencing. We can also manage and treat perimenopause and post menopausal symptoms. We are able to provider IUD insertion and removal. We also provide treatment options for low testosterone, and erectile concerns. If your have symptoms that require advanced care or further imaging we work closely with trusted specialists to ensure your needs are met.
Mental and Behavioral Health
Psychiatric illness comprises a wide spectrum to include generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, PTSD, OCD, ADD/ADHD, bipolar, amongst many others. Our providers are capable of treating many of the most common mental health diseases. We take a holistic approach to mental health and do our level best to understand your illness and unique life circumstances to determine the best treatment plan. This often includes connecting with psychotherapy, medication management, and coordination or collaboration with a Psychiatrist if needed.
Regarding ADD or ADHD, our providers can manage related medications once we have reviewed prior records confirming your diagnosis. Please have your records with you at your first appointment or faxed to us before your appointment if you intend to transfer management of ADD/ADHD medication to our practice.
Metabolic Health
Does diabetes run in your family? Have you been told you are “pre-diabetic”? Are you worried about insulin resistance? Or do you already carry a diagnosis of diabetes? We will work closely with you to manage your glucose and prevent complications, through exercise, nutrition, and medication (including insulin management if required). We manage the care of most people with diabetes in-house, and rarely refer outside to an endocrinologist.
Beyond diabetes, our providers are trained to address a wide range of endocrine, metabolic and related diseases to include thyroid disorders, osteoporosis, obesity, sleep apnea, and more. Obesity is a complex topic that has cultural, societal, genetic, and medical implications. We recognize that not all patients with obesity necessarily need targeted treatment. However, when obesity becomes a medical risk factor, we can help you navigate your treatment options in the form of non-pharmacological counseling, appropriate referrals, or directly with medication management.
